His Living Water – Let It Flow

COME TO THE WATER

How many of you, as you read the title on the above line, immediately began to sing the song with that phrase repeated in the chorus? (The song is also known as For Those Tears I Died, and the chorus begins, “And Jesus said, ‘Come to the waters; stand by my side. I know you are thirsty, you won’t be denied…” It’s a compelling song – for me, at least – and a powerful reminder of how much our Lord loved, and still loves us. He knows all our fears, all our tears, not because He observes from afar, but because He entered this world of ours and experienced all the joys and sorrows we face on a daily basis.

As we celebrated Easter earlier this month, our joy is refreshed as we remember that He did more than experience life on earth; He won victory for us in the battle against sin, Satan and death – all which pull us away from our Heavenly Father. His death and resurrection fulfill God’s promise to Adam and Eve, and to us, that He would restore them to Eden, and to His family.

Now, through the Holy Spirit, the Word and worship, Jesus continues to call us to the water to be comforted, healed, cleansed, filled and energized. He knows each of us, intimately, aware of our thirst, our pain, our yearning for love and worth. We’ll find all we need for life when we come to Him, the Living Water and our source of joy.

INFORMATION & REMINDERS:

Notes:
Thank you, zone presidents and society leaders! Many of you spent extra time making phone calls and otherwise connecting to be sure that Quarterly Chairman Char Chamberlin got the correct information for any changes in subscriptions. We were able to submit all the information to LWML on time. Let’s begin praying now that we will be able to increase those numbers soon, as we bring new women into our LWML family and as the economy begins to recover. Let’s keep this good communication flowing.

As we continue to pray for our completed district mission projects and those now being funded by LWML, also begin praying for those grants on the ballot at our convention.

  • Give thanks for those who generously, and sometimes sacrificially, fill their Mite Boxes in support of missionaries and other dedicated men and women serving God here and across the world.

  • Be in prayer also for our Host Convention Committee as they finalize plans for our upcoming PSD convention, and praise God for His care and provision for Host Convention Committee Sue Shiller during her recent hospitalization.

Zone Presidents, you recently received an e-mail with a series of Daily Prayers for convention – please download those and share them with societies and churches – and remember to use them yourselves. (download from convention page also)

Remember that the deadline to register for convention is coming soon – May 4th! This is the deadline for the hotel registration, also. Don’t forget to invite your pastor and his wife! If you don’t have the materials, contact your zone president or any member of the Executive Committee. We will make sure you get what you need.

On the national level, we now have available forms to nominate officers to be elected at the 2013 convention in Pittsburg, as well as information about submitting grant applications. Contact your zone president or district officers for any of these.
